When patients have lost all or most of their teeth, Dr. Kisner may recommend dentures. Fabricated from acrylic resin, full and partial dentures restore stability inside your mouth, offering a design that looks natural and healthy. We have seen the transformation as patients regain control over their lives and smile again with confidence.
Depending on the number of lost teeth, you will need either a complete set or a partial denture. Full dentures act as a substitute for your whole set of teeth on the upper jaw, the lower jaw, or for the entire mouth. A partial prosthetic will replace a few teeth in either arch and fit around your remaining teeth. Both types are completely removable.
Dentures can offer the following benefits:
• Replacement of missing teeth and improved esthetics
• Improved speech and chewing capabilities
• Expanded dietary options
• Support for facial structures
• Renewed confidence
For increased comfort and stability, Dr. Kisner may recommend an implant-supported denture. With implant-supported prosthetics, titanium posts, or implants, are placed into your jawbone. Your denture then snaps onto the implants and is held securely in place. This type of restorative treatment is often more stable and comfortable in the long run, but is more of a complicated process to put the implants in place.
Fabrication of a denture or partial can take from 2-5 visits. Everything about your prosthetic, from tooth shape and shade to smile design, will be custom-fitted to your mouth.
